The El Paso Chamber has hired a successor after its CEO departed in June.
Ricardo Mora will be the next CEO of the 125-year-old organization, the El Paso Chamber told El Paso Inc. Monday.
Mora is the co-founder of the Technology Hub Business Center in Juárez and was recently principal at RM International, an asset management company.
After former CEO Andrea Hutchins departed in June, the chamber formed a hiring committee and spent the last couple of months conducting a national search. The chamber said the search process netted more than 300 applicants. Mora will begin his tenure at the chamber on Aug. 19.
“Strengthening binational commerce is key to our region’s prosperity,” Mora said in a statement. “The El Paso Chamber is the business community’s lead advocate. I look forward to continuing that work for business today and businesses of the future.”
Mora serves on a number of boards in the region, including NMSU’s Arrowhead Center, the UTEP Development board, Desarrollo Economico de Ciudad Juárez and Funax-FabLab Juárez.
Elizabeth O’Hara, the El Paso Chamber board chair, said the search committee wanted to find a CEO to help develop nearshoring opportunities, tech manufacturing and human capital development.
“Ricardo doesn’t just fit the bill, he exceeds it,” O’Hara said in a news release.
