“Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties”, Erich Fromm .

Founded in 1975, Kuzzy is a company from Chihuahua that is dedicated to the manufacture of trailers and truck bodywork, however, the company has a great passion for innovation and they are not satisfied with the way things are done, that is the reason they defy certainties.

This attitude led them to become part of The Bridge Accelerator program, a binational program that expands the participation of local companies in the supply chain of large manufacturers and maquiladoras. Let's look at an example of innovation by Kuzzy, a company that managed to streamline its truck dump systems to shake up the market.

Little Big Giant

Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) required to transport around 35 tons per trip of each turn and the search for alternatives to the systems traditionally used in the market was more necessary than ever. Companies like GCC are in constant search of cost reduction and greater efficiency of the transport system, from extraction to crushing.

Kuzzy began to attract the attention of companies like GCC with an innovative solution through the application of a new dump system with the Mack Granite and Dump Hardox trucks. Even though they have certain weaknesses, these trucks are currently favored in the market for several reasons.

For example, these vehicles require better roads to travel, however, they manage to reduce the discharge cycle time and have greater capacity. They also need more hydraulic maintenance, but this is because it is more efficient.

On the other hand, there are several benefits to these vehicles, as they require less investment and offer a more flexible operation. In addition, the equipment is for commercial use, making it easier to obtain and maintenance is accessible. So, the weaknesses are negligible compared to what you achieve with these vehicles:

  • Greater load capacity.
  • Time reduction in the discharge cycle.
  • Lower cost of maintenance, operation and investment.
  • Reliable use of equipment with automatic transmission.
  • More efficient hydraulic system.
  • Protective pompadour for added safety.
  • Back door removal.

These benefits were achieved through innovating at various points in the process and, on the path to innovation, they did not leave the human side behind. For example, the way in which they adapted the protective cap gives greater security to the operator of the vehicle.

They innovated in the handling of high-strength steels (HARDOX 450) and in the application of engineering in the development of the metal box and in the hydraulic development of the system, just to mention some of the points of innovation.
