This Monday, January 18, 2021, 15 members of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ciudad Juárez visited Technology HUB. Currently, this United Nations agency has a presence in six cities in the north, south and center of the country, among them is Ciudad Juárez.

IOM was founded in 1951 and it is the main intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and firmly defends the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society, which is why its presence in Ciudad Juarez and Technology HUB is of utmost importance.

Dana Graber Ladek, IOM Mexico Chief of Mission, led the visit to our city, which had these objectives:

  • Introduce the IOM team to those responsible for the Technology HUB.
  • Get to know the facilities first-hand.
  • Identify the migration challenges that may exist in 2021.
  • Establish priority lines of work for IOM in the region with Technology HUB, as representatives of the private sector.

The border area of Mexico has several challenges to face in terms of migration and the IOM already has the migration challenges in sight for 2021. Among these issues are possible variations in the migration context of Ciudad Juarez and the rest of the region border, medium and long term.

Technology HUB aims to connect minds and our partners work to create a strong and united binational community. We are convinced that IOM shares many of our values and missions, so we are happy to help them achieve their goals through our ecosystem.

IOM has a home in this border city with us and we look forward to connecting with them for many more years.
