If you had to jump off an airplane because it’s falling, would you use an old parachute that could fail, or would you jump without it? When it comes to your survival, don’t bargain without checking out the stats.
Czech Republic is one of the few European countries that successfully diminished the contagion of the newest virus. This country also implemented social distancing and asked the population to stay home. Nonetheless, they did something different from other countries that have not been able to control the spread of the virus.
Wear a Face Mask
In Czech Republic, besides the sanitary measures, everyone who must leave the house is required to do so with a face mask. This is a measure that must be taken by countries like Mexico, where the contagion peak has not been reach yet.
A lot has been said about face masks: that they’re not useful, shouldn’t be used, not 100% effective, and so on. The evidence of countries that took this initiative seriously, as well as doctors and experts of those countries, indicate otherwise.
“A simple homemade mask can prevent up to 100% of the spread of potentially infected micro-droplets”, Vladimir Zdimal, Head of the Department of Chemistry and Aerosol Physics at the Czech Academy of Sciences.

If you haven’t heard it enough from experts on the subject, stay home! You’ll have to leave the house to get essential things, like food, but that’s about it. Going out to have fun with a group of people of 5 persons of more is not essential.
“The more people use masks, the less virus can be distributed, and fewer individuals are exposed”, affirmed Emil Pavlik, microbiologist y virologist.
Listen to the experts. If you must go out to work, use a face mask. It can make the difference in the quantity of diseased and deaths in the country.
Some young people from other countries have stated that they don’t care about the pandemic, since the virus is not as lethal for them. Nonetheless, if you spread the virus to elder people, is more probable that they die, so we’re all responsible for the other in this situation.
In these trying times, is important to be empathic. Face masks protect the others more than you, but, if everybody uses one, we’re all taking care of the other and this way someone takes care of you while you take care of them.
