Students and entrepreneurs from Juarez, El Paso, and Las Cruces have 72 hours to find an innovative, efficient, and affordable solution to improve one of Bosch´s processes in Juarez. This is the challenge for Bosch Hackathon 2018.

“We want to know where our components are in every moment of the day, in real time. This is a real challenge because we have between 40,000 and 50,000 actions daily,” said Daniel Perry, manager of the Information, Coordination and Organization division in Bosch Juarez plant 1. “We want to prove to our corporate offices in Germany that Mexico has the capability to find innovative solutions.”

He expressed Mexico has the talent to find comprehensive solutions in manufacturing and events like this hackathon are helpful for the industry doing business in Juarez.

“We just need to give people a chance to prove their abilities,” Perry added.

Ricardo Mora, Technology HUB CEO, said this is a very complicated challenge, but he believes the teams will find innovative and very broad solutions.

At least 300 people registered for the challenge. Some of them already have a formal team and the other must find their collaborators during the event. The teams will have access to mentors.

Participants will be asked to develop projects and prototypes that improve the internal flow of products in the local Bosch facilities, using technologies such as Apps, sensors, Bluetooth, AR, VR, iBeacon, etcetera.

A panel of Bosch management as well as some experts and personnel of the Technology HUB will pick the winner on Feb. 25. This is an ongoing event being held in the Technology HUB in Ciudad Juarez.
